The fastest way to add accounts
You've got a brokerage account with 15 positions, or a bank with 4 different accounts, and typing in every balance manually is nobody's idea of a good time.
Screenshot Import lets you take a screenshot of your account page and upload it to Steady Wealth. The system reads the account names and balances from the image and fills everything in for you. You review it, make any corrections, and save.
No bank login required. No API connection. Just a picture.
How it works
The process is straightforward:
- Take a screenshot of your bank or brokerage account page showing balances
- Upload it on the Accounts page (drag and drop or click to browse)
- Review the extracted data. The system will show you what it found: account names and balances
- Edit anything that needs fixing. You're always in control of the final numbers
- Save. The accounts are created and balances are recorded
The extraction uses AI vision to read text and numbers from your screenshot. It works with most bank and brokerage interfaces, statements, and portfolio views.
Tips for the best results
Not all screenshots are created equal. Here are some tips to get clean, accurate extractions:
Show the full balance. Make sure account balances are fully visible and not cut off. If your screen only shows partial numbers, scroll or zoom out before capturing.
Keep it clean. The simpler the screenshot, the better. A clean account overview page works better than a busy dashboard with charts, ads, and promotions crowding the view.
One institution at a time. Don't try to capture your entire financial life in one screenshot. Take one per bank or brokerage. It keeps things organized and improves accuracy.
Use the full screen. Crop out browser bars, notifications, and other clutter. The more focused the image, the better the extraction.
Screenshots of statements (PDF or web) work great. They tend to have clean layouts with clearly labeled accounts and balances.
What it extracts
The system looks for:
- Account names (Checking, Savings, Traditional IRA, etc.)
- Account balances (the current value of each account)
- Institution name (when visible in the screenshot)
It does not extract transaction history, account numbers, or any personal identifying information. Even the screenshot itself isn't stored after processing. It's read, the data is extracted, and the image is discarded.
You always have the final say
This is important: nothing is saved until you review and confirm it. The extracted data is presented to you for editing before anything hits your account.
Found a typo? Fix it. Want to rename an account? Go ahead. Balance looks off? Adjust it. The system is a starting point, not the final word.
This fits Steady Wealth's core philosophy: your data, your control. AI does the tedious work. You make the decisions.
When to use it
Screenshot Import shines in a few scenarios:
-
Initial setup. When you first create your Steady Wealth account and need to add everything. Instead of typing 20+ accounts manually, screenshot each institution and import them all in minutes. Then update your net worth in five minutes each month going forward.
-
Brokerage accounts with many positions. If you track individual stock and fund positions, a screenshot of your portfolio page can save a lot of typing. You can also use the Investment Analysis tool to get a full sector breakdown from the same screenshot.
-
Updating institutions with lots of accounts. If your bank has checking, savings, money market, and CDs all in one view, screenshot the overview page and update everything at once.
For simpler updates (checking your single savings account balance), just typing the number is probably faster. Use whichever method feels right for the situation.
Privacy stays intact
Even with Screenshot Import, your bank credentials never leave your bank. You're sharing an image of numbers, not access to your accounts. The screenshot is processed server-side, never stored, and the extracted data goes only to your account. This is part of the core philosophy: Steady Wealth will never ask for your bank login.
No Plaid. No aggregator. No credentials. Just a picture of some numbers.
